As a project auditioner, things can get a little confusing around here, can't they?
On all our projects, there are either lines or no lines. What lines, you ask? Well, take this for example:
_________________________________________________
CHARACTERS:
Dora Explorer- Dora is a young girl who enjoys going on adventures with her pet monkey.
LINE ONE: Lets go on a adventure!
LINE TWO: WHOO-HOO!
__________________________________________________
See the 'Lines'? Consider those to be your audition script. Basically, if you see 'LINE ONE', 'LINE TWO', and so on under the character description, that's all you have to perform in your audition tape. Sometimes, there aren't any lines there. No, that isn't a mistake.
Whenever there are no lines, like a real audition, you must perform your own piece with the tone and personality of the given character. This just shows how well you can put yourself in someone else's shoes without tons of background knowledge on them. Monologues can be funny, dramatic, comedic, or whatever, as long as you think it fits well with the character.
